Bing Wallpaper for Mac:
The Daily Photo, on macOS

Microsoft's Bing Wallpaper app is Windows-only — Mac users get nothing. This free, open-source menu-bar app fills the gap: it fetches the Bing daily image and sets it as your Mac wallpaper, automatically, every day.

How to install

  1. Download the DMG from the button above.

  3. Launch it from Applications — look for the icon in your menu bar. That's it: today's Bing photo is now your wallpaper, and tomorrow's will arrive on its own.

The app is signed with an Apple Developer ID and notarized by Apple, so macOS opens it without the "unidentified developer" warning.

Frequently asked questions

Is there an official Bing Wallpaper app for Mac?

No. Microsoft's Bing Wallpaper app is made for Windows, and there is no official macOS version. Bing Wallpaper for Mac on this page is a free, open-source menu-bar app that does the same job on macOS: it fetches the Bing daily image and sets it as your desktop wallpaper automatically.

How do I install Bing Wallpaper for Mac?

Download the DMG, open it, and drag Bing Wallpaper into your Applications folder. Launch it once — it lives in your menu bar and enables start-at-login automatically. The app is signed with a Developer ID and notarized by Apple, so it opens without security warnings.

Which macOS versions and Macs are supported?

macOS 14 or later, on both Apple Silicon and Intel Macs (universal binary).

What does the app do exactly?

It checks for the new Bing daily image every 30 minutes, downloads and verifies it, and sets it as your wallpaper. You can preview images from the menu bar, browse previous days, and use theme collections that rotate daily. Your image library is stored locally in ~/Library/Application Support/BingWallpaper — nothing is uploaded anywhere.

Is it really free?

Yes — free and open source under the MIT license. The full source code is on GitHub, so you can inspect or build it yourself.
